from Island Girl
to Global Citizen
I embarked on an adventure to travel around the world at 18, leaving behind the Caribbean. My first taste of living in a foreign environment came in Europe, where I studied at university and started my career in luxury hotels.
Over the next two decades, I grew my skills as a Learning and Development Specialist, working in 20 countries and gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience. I developed a love for immersing myself in new cultures through my travels.
It was in Asia where I found joy in helping others grow and learn, in Africa where I embraced the richness of diverse cultures, and in the Middle East where I learned the importance of living in the present moment. I also met my husband in Egypt.
from Hotel Executive
to Special Needs Mom
Our journey began when our son was diagnosed with a rare genetic syndrome called Cri du Chat or 5p Minus. We were told there was no cure or treatment. Our best hope was ‘early intervention’ therapies - lots of them.
As we navigated the challenges of helping him grow and thrive, we faced the unknown world of diversity and inclusion when he started school. As a special needs mom, I often felt isolated. However, I found comfort in connecting with others through inclusion support groups and learning from each other’s stories. I use this platform to share our experiences and insights with you as our family journey unfolds.
